This was me trying to prepare stuff for the one-shot. The Bois, of course, felt a need to “help”.

You’re both adorable but this is not “help”.

DnD One-shot: “The Captive of Winter Keep”
or “How To Improvise Everything In Less Than 24 Hours”

Spent New Years this time around running a one-shot for some friends who came over (and for two who could not). Basically, we all got to talking about spending new year’s together, but aside going to see some fireworks there wasn’t really much else to do, so my brain went “Hey, why not run a game again” and everyone agreed that would be a good idea.

So, we did. Or, at least, tried to, because some unusual circumstances arose that prompted some even more unusual solutions and, ultimately, opportunities x3 Anni wasn’t able to make it due to injuring her neck in a slip a few days before, so Banda helped me jury-rig up a video call set-up that would let her play from home. With one (surprisingly good) webcam, a headset microphone and lots of prayers the cats wouldn’t run into the extended wiring cause the living room table was so far from the computer desk, we somehow got everything to work. Work well, even. Like, actually work. Which, of course, prompted another idea, and that was that Josie could also theoretically join in from all the way back in Denmark, and thus we went from having a 3-person party before the game down to a 2-person party a day before and back up to a 4-person party in the actual game x3

Mad props to 2-Minute Table Top for all the tokens used to build up the map and my printer for not murdering me for printing such big pieces out in full colour. For minis we just used little paper print-outs of whatever we could find closest to the character in question, except for Josie, who joined at the last minute so used one of the spare minis for her.

For the enemies, used some Kinder egg animals for the shrine guardians, a sword and fey horror for some trap monsters, actual winter wolves, and finally the three champions to whom the keep belonged. (One day I’ll find time to paint again, one day..)

“The Court of Winter has kidnapped a person of interest to the Summer Court. Ancient laws forbid fey from harming fey, so the Summer Court tasks a team of mortals to rescue the person in question, directing them towards an outpost of the Winter Court where they believe the captive to be held. But how well can mortals navigate the realm of the chaotic fey? Can they succeed, can they even survive? And even if so, will any of them ever be the same?”

(The amount of times characters swapped minds because of fey magic nonsense was hilarious)

Denmark Chissmuss Visit Loot~ (Thank you so much Josie <3)

We got: some gingerbread houses, a fricken TEA calendar <3, a Star Trek buk on ships, a buk on making flint arrowheads, an actual obsidian arrowhead, a moss agate ring, a medallion from Stonehenge, a set of very aro-themed dice (so pretty~), a mothaeffing foam Hunter knife holy shit aw ye, a wooden assembly-needed peacock (gotta channel that Molly somehow), Dungeon Mayhem and finally one of those glitz-covered journals where you can wipe it one way to have it been a pretty-pretty blue-green and another way to have it be black.

The dice already got used in the new year’s one shot while Dungeon Mayhem has been an absolute blast with everyone I’ve thrown it at. Its ridiculously fun and by ‘everyone’, I do mean everyone. Even one of my cousins who’s absolutely not into anything even close to RPGs (or gaming in general), Josie’s brother who likewise looked a little concerned as to what he might be getting himself into, and even my mom whose ability to grasp gaming mechanics tends to be as good as her ability to understand basic computer use, were all hella into it (and, somehow, mom ended up winning like three games. Somehow. She got real competitive, real fast and it was both amazing and concerning to behold. So did Josie’s brother, actually, now that I think about it. Just something about having cards with easy to understand symbols and being able to go stab-stab at others, I guess x3)

Extra life main stream has ended. Rooster Teeth rised over 1,4 milion$! It’s way more than their this year goal! Thank to amazing people who commissioned me this year, I could donate my little part too. Thank you guys so much! I’ve laughed all the time, I’ve cried at the end alongside with Jack. Matt’s singing as always killed me.

I can’t wait for the next year Extra Life. Wish one day I’ll be able for 1337$ donation OmO

Tried to draw along this time around, and man, you look away for like a SECOND and boom already there’s another tree popped up. Colours are a mess, but otherwise feel pretty okay with it x3
