Dagger (Katar)

 • Dated: end of 17th century
 • Culture: Indian
 • Medium: steel
 • Measurements: L: 35.2 cm

The distinctive Indian dagger, the katar, was used in close combat. In contrast to the ordinary dagger, which is held with the blade at a right angle to the arm, the katar is held by the cross bar, so that the blade points straight ahead.

This enables the bearer to deal even an armored opponent a fatal blow. As is often the case, the katar’s blade is decorated with ornamentation in relief, and the gilded handle is stippled with a floral pattern.

The ‘Troll’ Doom/Night Scythe, Umadh~

Much like the Spyder and Rence the Wraith, this was built from scratch, using a printed out image for size/proportions reference, a couple of layers of cardboard, some things from the bits and thingies boxes and a whole lot of casting mould to flesh out the body. And even more scraping and cutting and etching to get it into the right shape.

All in all, pretty happy with it <3 When it gets back from the Riga campaign, will make it a wormhole gateway to complete the set.

You buy from those war hippies at Maliwan, the gun’s named like “the Fervid Gospel” or “the Guileless Provocateur” — some pretentious crap.

Photo 30 Apr 13 notes The Troll Scythe and Wraith Gang are emigrating to Riga this thursday, to help out a neighbouring dynasty with a bit of tournament conquesting. Both of these units have one tournament under their belts already, having done annoyingly well, and while the Doom Scythe doesn’t have additional combat experience, the Wraiths are practically battle veterans, so hopefully the fellow necron player will end up showing the latvians a thing or two x3
This was meant to be a quick pre-work doodle, but these guys ended up being way too fun to draw, to the point of not only getting names, but some backstory to boot. But that’s a tale for another time, perhaps~
Until then *salute* Umadh, Tep, Medoch and Rence, make your dynasty proud.
